Our Campaigns
What is CampaignOUT?
At ReportOUT, we campaign for social justice for sexual and gender minorities, and we want to bring an end to the injustice, discrimination and human rights abuses of people globally. Our CampaignOUT project is about increasing the temperature on those who would bring harm to us, as well bringing the wider public on board with our journey.
Please explore some of our previous,
current and upcoming work below.
Current Campaign: Corrective Rape
One of the most brutal forms of so-called ‘conversion’ therapy is the practice of ‘corrective rape.’ Also known as ‘curative rape’, this is a hate crime in which one or more people are raped because of their perceived sexual orientation or gender identity. The common intended consequence of the rape, as seen by the perpetrator, is to ‘turn’ the person heterosexual or to enforce conformity with gender stereotypes. In the U.K., corrective rape has not been part of the dialogue in terms of ending conversion therapy, and we want to make sure that it is. Want to read about our plans? See more information below.
Global Campaigns Team
The Global Campaigns Team is a bold and exciting branch of ReportOUT. We strive to fulfil ReportOUT’s wider mission to report, inform, and defend SOGIESC human rights for all people through strategic campaigning and collaboration.
Our role is to amplify ReportOUT’s projects and research across an array of advocacy avenues and work alongside local communities and international NGOs. We have expertise in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a set of 17 goals adopted by all 193 United Nations Member States in 2015. So far, our campaigns have aimed to realise these goals: to ‘leave no one behind’ and to ‘reach the furthest behind first’.
Beyond the SDGs, the rapidly evolving team develops strategies to engage in UN and EU mechanisms, to build a knowledgebase that navigates global systems, and to engage with likeminded NGOs to streamline advocacy efforts, and bolster our collective impact.
